Hach Ki
"Delicious" in the Mayan Language
We chose this name as a tribute to Martha's roots and as a playful promise — everything we serve truly is delicious.

Our Roots
Martha's family has deep indigenous roots in Chunhuhub, Quintana Roo — in the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula, where the Mayan language is still spoken.
"Above all, we strive to put God first in our lives and in this business, trusting Him as we serve our community one cup of coffee and one pastry at a time."
Hach Ki Cafe is a family dream rooted in heritage, faith, and a love for good food.
My name is Martha Palacios, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California to Mexican parents originally from Quintana Roo in the Yucatán Peninsula. Growing up, I spent many summers in Mexico in my mother's hometown of Chunhuhub, where my family has deep indigenous roots in the region. Food has always been a part of our story. My grandmother made her living preparing meals for children from the local school, and many members of my extended family run their own restaurants and food businesses back home.
In 2014, I graduated from the Art Institute of Santa Monica with a degree in Baking and Pastry. I later worked at Disneyland before starting my family, and previously owned a bakery before eventually opening our café.
In 2022, our family moved to Texas with the hope of building a better future for our children. Three years ago, we opened Hach Ki Cafe — a place built on faith, hard work, and the desire to create a warm and welcoming space for our community. Today, we are especially known for our traditional café de olla, fresh conchas made daily, and pastes originally from Pachuca, Hidalgo, honoring the flavors and traditions that have shaped our family.
My husband, Ezer Alejandro Palacios, was born in Mexico City (CDMX), where his father owns several traditional pastes shops. With a background in finance and a family history in the food business, Ezer always dreamed of owning a shop of his own and building something meaningful for our family.
Today, Hach Ki Cafe is truly a family effort. Our two young children often work alongside us, learning not only how to cook and serve, but also the values that guide everything we do.
